The Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days. The new year is based on the lunar cycle, and is on the second New Moon after the winter solstice. The last day of the celebration is known as the Festival of Red Lanterns. On this day hundreds of candles are lit to usher in the coming of new fresh light in the New Year.
Feng Shui is all about harmony, balance, and increas-ing your good luck. Feng Shui wisdom for the Chinese New Year suggests totally cleaning your house inside and outside to prepare for the New Year. Space clear-ing is also recommended, so that your space is fresh and renewed. On New Year’s Eve, all dust rags, brooms, etc are put away. It is considered bad luck to sweep all of your good luck/fortune away!
